Oh you guys I am SO excited. This is the post I’ve been waiting for. I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this post! I am just bursting to tell you about my first recipient. He is going to blow you away.
Now, I know I said I was going to let you all help me decide who is my first recipient, and I do plan to open things up for voting in the future, but I just can’t do it with this one. This guy is just so EXACTLY who I’m wanting to give to, I can’t risk the chance that it wouldn’t be him. He’s been on the top of my list for almost a year now, and is a huge part of the inspiration for this site.
That all probably makes it sound like I know him. But I don’t, and he definitely doesn’t know me. Back-story is that one day during last year’s school year, I was visiting a friend. We were picking up her child from school, sitting in a long line of cars in the pick up lane. While we waited, we watched as the poor beleaguered teachers tried to keep a semblance of order. The air was filled with the happy shouts of the children as they burst from the school doors, and stern warnings of “slow down!” and “hands to yourself!” from the teachers as they directed them into lines and groups.
So, there we are, watching it all and soaking it all in, when suddenly…
(Cue mood the music, lol…)
There he was.
There was this man, and I’m telling you, he was just glowing from the inside. He had the warmest smile you can imagine, and it seemed like every kid in the school ran up to give him a spontaneous hug, or high-five him, or shout out, “Hey, Mr. G!” He had that mega-watt smile, but it was so much more than that. The love these kids felt for this guy was so palpable, it was matched only by the love he so clearly felt for them.
Well, of course I had to ask my friend about him. “So, who’s that guy?” I asked, keeping my tone casual.
“Oh, that’s Mr. G,” she replied. “He does the Sound Machine.”
Before she could say more, her child appeared and there was a flurry of activity as she (or he) was loaded into the car, and before I knew it we were turning out of the school, and that was the end of that. Except it wasn’t really the end at all, because me being the nosy little Nellie that I am, got back home and started searching the web. All I had to do was type in his name and the name of the school he works at, and just look at what I found, and tell me that this man is not the absolute perfect #1 recipient for the first Abundance By Magic gift:
Here he is, being serenaded by his class:
And now, check out the group that he founded and leads, called The Sound Machine:
OK, seriously, how amazing IS this guy? How amazing is The Sound Machine? Are you all as blown away as I am? And would you believe he runs the whole program purely on a volunteer basis? He doesn’t get paid one single penny for all that he does. *Sigh*. Yes, I am swooning. (OK, fine, so it doesn’t hurt that he’s also handsome. But I swear, everyone, I’m swooning at his SPIRIT, not his good looks, lol.)
The only thing that’s upsetting me is that I’m wanting to give him what he really deserves, which would be more than I have to give for years running. But I know that I can’t get into a habit of giving too much of the pot to any one person, or my lovely project will be done far too soon. So I have to be happy just knowing that he is tops on my list for when I get more to give. (And notice that is very much a WHEN, not an if.
) Nonetheless, I do want to give him more than just an average sized gift…
SO… I am going to start big and gift him with $500. Actually, no. Make that $550, because I had a beautiful, generous reader here donate $50 to me today, and I just know that she’s going to approve of this choice. (Thank you, thank you, thank you, beautiful anonymous giver!!!)
I’ll let you know tomorrow how I’m going to get the money to him. For now, please everyone just watch these videos and bask in the wonderfulness of this person, and send him big giant vibes of abundance, luck, and magic.
Hooray!!!

So how does this work? How will he receive it? Will he be directed here so that he can see and read about the project as well as your post? Do we get to gush all over him? I must know!!!!

Thank you Anna! Thank you Kate!
I was going to post today about the hows of giving anonymously. But I took a nice long walk (gorgeous fall day) and instead I got to thinking about how the recipients will feel when they come to the site. It struck me that what I needed was a page just for them, somewhere they could go when they log on for the first time wondering what the heck is up.
So I added the page: Did You Receive Something?. I’m feeling more ready than ever now, and am thinking that tomorrow might be the day to finally send the actual gift.

Beautiful! I love it! So how exactly does he receive? Are you going to mail it? Or is some anonymous and sketchily dressed stranger going to hand deliver it under cover of darkness? LOL. This is so cool and my husband and I are loving this site! I’m still all tingly.
