It’s another Elf Tuesday, and you know what that means: Another $50 of giving money to a randomly selected Elf. WOO-HOO!!!!

But first, I want to celebrate something even more wonderful: Elves officially began Elf-giving last week, and already we received our very first (and very lovely) Elf thank you. How awesome is that? Congratulations MamaElf!   It was especially fun because MamaElf was the very first Elf to sign up, and now she’s the very first to get a thank you.  How perfect!

For those who didn’t see the post, here’s what the thank you said (posted on Leave Thanks):

“Thank you!!!!!!! Thank you so much Mama Elf for sharing your magic with us! You truely touched our hearts and made our day! When we got a call from the library that somebody we had met left a gift for us, i was surprised, not everyday you get a call like that. But when i read the card, it truely just made my day. And you are far from crazy, You are an angel. Just when times were getting tough you gave us hope! We’re glad to see there is still good in the world, good people like your self give people hope that they never had before! Thank You so much!”

And here is MamaElf’s gracious comment (posted on ElfChat):

“i just read it —it was wonderful to read!!!!!!! i dont have a lot of $ — not at the moment –its coming though –its coming in a big river way!!!!!!–soon i can just feel it!!!!! anyways —-so i thought my small gift would not be good enough, honestly i was feeling well embarrassed to tell u the truth—– well just look at how wrong i was!!!!!! it was so great to hear that!!!!! im excited to give tomorrow!!”

I hope you don’t mind me quoting you, MamaElf — this just so perfectly demonstrates that the smallest gifts are often the biggest. No Elf should ever make the mistake of thinking he or she has nothing to give.  (One day I will share the story of a truly lovely homeless man who offered ME some money, straight out of his little cup. That must have been twelve years ago now, but I’ve never forgotten him or the moment we shared. Such is the power of a small gift!)
